Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you... The Mars Volta,

Now, if you have ever met me, you know, I have a little infatuation with this band. Well, infatuation is a little bit of an understatement. Obsession is a more likely word, and even that's cut it a little slim. The fact of the matter is, The Mars Volta is the single greatest band of the 21st century, bar none. You can debate that bold statement but I'll tell you now, now matter what you say, YOU ARE WRONG. Honestly, If you haven't listened to these guys yet, you are musically, a cerebral midget. But lets try to break this midgetry. Let's get to the albums shall we...

Deloused in the Comatorium

Let me start off by saying that this album is my favorite album of all time. This is their first full length album after the breakup of Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez's previous band At the Drive-In. This concept album celebrates the life and death of Omar and Cedric's childhood friend, Julio Venagas, portrayed in the album as the protagonist Cerpin Taxt, who has suicidely overdosed and slipped into a coma. The story is about his adventures and struggles through the "comatorium". The album ends with Cerpin coming out of the coma and ultimately succeeding in his original plan; he commits suicide by jumping off a building. The album itself is well... incredible. Download this now, or you're an idiot, is basically where I'm getting at.
[Note: I had to seperate the album because the file is quite large]

Frances The Mute

This is is very close second favorite album of all time. Frances the Mute, their second studio album experiments with many intense sounds and ideas. The album follows a mysterious story which is told through the ghostly and powerful sounds composed by Rodriguez-Lopez and the haunting and strongly liturgic and poetic lyrics written and sung by Bixler-Zavala. The album displays a deep jazz influence, while at the same time infusing a Latin flavor into many songs, most obviously in "L'Via L'Viaquez." All in all, this album will make you shit bricks and orgasm uncontrollably at the same time. And you will notice that the first track on the album is entitled "Frances the Mute". This song was originally supposed to be the first song on the album but was taken off due to time restraints.
